Inspiring family stories: Mimi Thorisson and life in the French countryside

We all look to find the balance between work and rest, and have a creatively simplified lifestyle. So I'll be sharing family stories that will inspire a simple and conscious life, whether it's in the French countryside, an Australian beach town or in a nomadic journey around the world. Lifetime adventures where you leave behind your job and busy life, and start living slowly, enjoying the simple things!

The story of Mimi Thorisson and her family seems like a fairytale, the dream of any food lover and slow living enthusiat.

Mimi and her husband, the Icelandic photographer Oddur Thorisson, left Paris together with their three kids and four terriers, for the charming countryside in Bordeaux and turned an old hotel from Medoc into their home.

They now host pop-up dinners and cookery classes in their own home, taking visitors to the local market, hunting for antiques in small town shops and running photography lessons. The dream story this family is living can also be discovered through Mimi's cookbooks. They are not just a collection of recipes, they tell the story of a house, of a place in France, of the amazing and unexpected life journey they live. Have a look on Mimi's website where she portrays their family life through seasonal foods, and imagine yourself in a small village on the Atlantic coast of France, still undiscovered by travelers, with wind-swept beaches and wild forests, with lots of vineyards and fields of wildflowers.
