Staying inside

Autumn is here to stay and so is the rainy weather. And altough we are all outdoor lovers in this house and we usually spend our days outside, we could say that the rain was perfectly timed up with our slow weekend. Sometimes it's good to just stay home, with no plans and take the opportunity to unwind, or maybe do all those things around the house that you've postponed so far.

So what better moment to savor the time spent with family then this? Time spent indoors, cozy and warm, watching the rain, baking a pie, just "hyggelling".

HYGGE. The art of builing a sanctuary and a haven in your home, connecting and spending time with with your loved ones, slowing down to celebrate the little moments in every day, and creating feelings of warmth and happiness.

We usually try to live all our days at a slower pace, but this autumn months really make us want to spend more time at home. Its a season that invites to closeness, to surround ourselves with warmth and to create comforting moments. This is how we do it:

Warm socks, fluffy sweaters and comfy blankets to keep us warm

as soon as the cold season settles in I love taking out all the blankets. I also put one on the balcony, to keep me warm in the morning, while I have sip from the first cup of coffee, watching how the city slowly wakes up

Staying in bed till late to read a book or a magazine

that might seem as a great privilege when you're a parent, but we're lucky enough to have a child who likes lazy mornings as much as we do. So we never get out of bed immediately after waking up. We either play some music, go through a book (his latest favorite is la rousse dictionary for kids) and a magazine (my list of favorites is really too long for this post) or just open the laptop for some bloglovin'

Spiced fruit bake for breakfast

we love Oat Box for so many reasons and one of them is this recipe for baked fruits that I found on their webiste and has turned in to a family favorite for all mornings, busy ow slow

Making our favorite recipe for lunch

if during the week we stick to the meal plan and go for dishes that we can eat for two days in a row, in weekends we indulge ourselves with some of our favorite lunch recipes. And that's usually pasta :) and the latest discovery is an amazing recipe from one of the most inspiring blogs A better happier St. Sebastian.

Lots of scented candles

you really have to have a lot of candles in the house to create a hygge feeling right?!

Baking

If during summer we rarely turn on the oven, as the cold weather takes over I could use any excuse to...bake. I just love the smell of homemade bread all over the house, leaving the oven door open once its turned off just to warm up the air a little bit more.

Warm drinks

Ok, they're strictly warm all of them as a glass of wine on the terrace at night is actually all you need to end the day. But the coffee tastes better when its cold outside for sure!

Vinyls, books and games

As a part of our project for intentional living, we try to avoid tv time in our house, as much as we can. So family time usually means cooking together, playing games, dancing and reading (besides all the jumping and car racing on the kitchen tabletop, we have those as well).

What we are reading at the moment:

Kinfolk Entrepreneur for me and also having The magic of motherhood on my night shelf. My Mr. is reading The everything store by Brad Stone and basically everything that comes out on ecommerce and sales. And Radu's new favorite is le Petit Larousee and anything else that has pictures with animals.

Basically its all about the food, the drinks  and the people that you share them with. Plus some of our favorite pass times!
